As a child I was always fascinated by electronics. I always spent my free time taking
apart broken devices and wondering how they worked and why they stopped working. In
high school, I started repairing broken cellphones and even fixed my friends...
Directly out of high school I worked in the electronics industry for a number of years
as a corporate level manager. I grew tired of the traditional business-work but really
enjoyed when I was able to speak to subject matter experts and engineers....
As a child, I was exposed to science through an amazing set of 6 books about many
topics such as anatomy, properties of light, ecosystems, and outer space. With plenty
of support from my father, I was able to excel in math all throughout school...
Before I came to UNT, I didn't know what research was. I also didn't know the difference
between a physicist and a physician. High school textbook descriptions of scientists
sounded interesting, but out of my reach. In 9th grade I was planning to...
